Awards, Honors and Inclusions

Larissa Myaskovsky, PhD, FAST, received the Faculty Research Excellence Award in Population Science, at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences, Albuquerque, NM (June, 2023)

Nationally, Dr. Myaskovsky was given the Advancing Equity in Organ Transplantation Award, which is presented annually by the American Society of Transplantation (AST) to recognize an individual whose work has made a significant impact on increasing equity and reducing racial disparities in transplantation. It was presented at the annual meeting of the American Transplant Congress in San Diego, CA (June, 2023)

On June 9th, Margaret A. Chesney, PhD, received the 2023 Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research (ABMR) Lifetime Achievement Award. The announcement read,

“For your many contributions to advancing behavioral medicine research in the areas of health promotion and wellbeing across the lifespan with a focus on developing behavioral interventions for women, seniors and the underserved. We also celebrate your contributions to ABMR, including serving as our first woman president.  We wish to recognize your leadership in behavioral medicine more broadly, including your roles as Deputy Director of NCCIH for 5 years, as a member of the National Academy of Medicine, among many other leadership roles that have shaped behavioral medicine today.”

Barbara L. Andersen, PhD, FSBM, Distinguished University Professor at the Ohio State University received the Arthur M. Sutherland Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Field of Psycho-oncology.  The most important award given by the International Society for Psycho Oncology (IPOS), it recognizes sustained and distinguished contributions recognized internationally.  She received the award in September at the Society’s 24th annual meeting in Lisbon Italy.

Linda E. Carlson, PhD, FSBM, is the lead author on the recently-published clinical practice guideline entitled Integrative Oncology Care of Symptoms of Anxiety and Depression in Adults With Cancer: Society for Integrative Oncology–ASCO Guideline. It was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology on Aug 15th, 2023, and has been featured in over 25 news articles at the time of Publishing the Outlook.

Kailey Snyder, PhD, Assistant Professor in Education and Child Development at the Munroe Meyer Institute within the University of Nebraska Medical Center was recently quoted in a Parents Magazine article on breastfeeding support around the world. https://www.parents.com/breastfeeding-around-the-world-7814165

Rachelle Brick, PhD, MSPH, OTR/L, received the 2023 National Cancer Institute Trans-Fellowship Research Award to study rehabilitation referral patterns among older individuals with advanced cancer.  

David B. Allison, PhD, an obesity researcher, biostatistician dean of the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington—is among an exclusive group of scholars named 2023 Fellows of Sigma Xi. Since 2020, the scientific research honor society has selected peer-nominated scientists in recognition of their "exceptional contributions to the scientific enterprise.
