Every year we hear from attendees that one of the important reasons for attending the Annual Meeting is the opportunity to network. Similar to last year, there will be a lunch break from noon-1 p.m. each day with no scheduled opposing sessions so that members can find time to connect and foster collaborations. Popular sessions and events such as the First Time Attendee and New Member Meet & Greet (Wednesday, April 26th at 5 p.m.), Making Connections Luncheon for Attendees from Underrepresented Groups (Friday, April 28th at 12 p.m.), and the Stride for Science Run/Walk (Thursday, April 27th at 6:10 p.m.) will also be held again. New this year is the SBM Fellows Reception, which will be held at the Desert Botanical Gardens on Wednesday, April 26th from 5:30-7:30 p.m..

Part of “translating science into impact” involves communicating our science to the public and using our research to advocate for policy and practice changes. Therefore, we have planned a series of sessions just prior to and during the Annual Meeting to help members and attendees enhance their skills in SciComm and advocacy.

  • SBM Webinar: State and Federal Advocacy 101 facilitated by the American Psychological Association Advocacy Office on Tuesday, March 28th 1-2 p.m. ET. If you haven’t already, please sign up to attend this informative session.
  • Pre-Conference Course 9: Communicating Science: Building Trust in Journalism and the Sciences as Forces for Good on Wednesday, April 26th 11-1 p.m..
  • Panel 7: Introducing the Science Communication Toolkit: Looking Back and Next Steps on Thursday, April 27th 2-2:50 p.m..
  • Panel 20: Perspectives from SBM Nutrition Ambassadors on Science Communication to Advance Nutrition Equity Policies and Practices on Friday, April 28th 2-2:50 p.m..
