Outlook: Newsletter of the Society of Behavorial Medicine

Winter 2022

Linda Trinh, PhD; Editor, Outlook

In this issue, our members are sharing tips and strategies for career preparations, pre-doctoral fellowship applications, and finding the right mentor. If you are interested in a road less travelled, the Membership Council provides insights into launching a career in the private sector of digital health.

In addition, Dr. Brian Gonzalez (member of the Advocacy Council and Member Delegate) shares his tips to empower members to advocate for health policy change at the local level. One of the tools you can utilize is to join the health policy ambassador program. SBM’s health policy ambassadors work tirelessly to forge relationships with policymakers to engage them in making evidence-based decisions in key priority areas. Check out the climate change corner to see what it’s like to be a health policy ambassador in climate change and health.

As we head into the new year, we are looking forward to connecting at the 2023 Annual Meeting. Before you make your travel plans, be sure to read a message from the SBM president, Dr. Margaret Schneider. She highlights some of the events and keynotes happening at the conference that you won’t want to miss.

Finally, we are always open to new ideas and suggestions from our members. If you have ideas for the newsletter, I encourage you to reach out to Sarah Gilbertson at sgilbertson@sbm.org or myself at linda.trinh@utoronto.ca

I wish you all a restful and happy holiday season!
