Awards, Honors and Inclusions

A. Rani Elwy, PhD, FSBM, was selected to deliver the annual Enola Proctor Lecture on the Future of Implementation Science on October 9, 2023, at Washington University in St. Louis.

Jamilah R. George, MS, was honored with the 2023 Outstanding Student in Psychology Award by the Connecticut Psychological Association for critical contributions to the field of psychology through clinical work and research advancements in behavioral medicine.

Leslie R.M. Hausmann, PhD, was named associate director of the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion at Veterans Affairs Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Jennifer Mandelbaum, PhD, MPH, was awarded the Early Career Award from the American Public Health Association’s Public Health Education and Health Promotion section.

Marleah Dean Kruzel, PhD, and the immediate past chair of the Health Decision Making and Communication SIG, was awarded the Distinguished Article/Chapter Award from the National Communication Association's Health Communication Division for her 2016 article "'It's not if I get cancer, it's when I get cancer': BRCA-positive patients' (un)certain health experiences regarding hereditary breast and ovarian cancer risk" published in Social Science and Medicine.

Michelle Segar, PhD, MPH, MS, was interviewed in the Wall Street Journal about exercise mindsets, Forbes.com about how perfectionistic thinking thwarts exercise, and Self.com about how shifts in the physical activity guidelines have cultivated an “everything counts” mentality, supporting decisions to walk.

Rizwana Biviji, PhD, MS, had a research study titled “Closing the Gap in Pediatric Eye Care: A Network Adequacy Study” that was reported as a press release in Business Wire on October 25, 2023.
