2021 Leadership Institute
The fifth annual Leadership Institute kicked off virtually, just prior to SBM's 2021 Annual Meeting. The participants had been deferred from 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 31 Leadership Institute fellows met during an intensive week-long workshop which included sessions on:
- Understanding yourself as an emerging leader
- Creating leadership development plans
- Negotiating
- Resiliency and reflection
- Thriving amid chaos
- Welcoming diversity and fostering inclusivity
- Crafting, practicing, and executing highly effective impromptu pitches
Following the workshop, fellows participated throughout the year in individual coaching sessions, developed self-selected leadership projects under the mentorship of recognized SBM leaders, and joined periodic calls with a “learning community” of five to seven fellows with similar professional interests.
